CHARACTER BREAKDOWNS
GUSCO is committed to inclusive and diverse casting. People of all races, ethnicities, genders, body types, identities, attributes, religions, and abilities are encouraged to audition. If a role does not require a person to be of a specific race, ethnicity, gender, body type or have specific abilities or attributes we will actively consider anyone for the role.
As per the rights from Concord Theatricals: "In the Heights celebrates, uplifts and amplifies a Latinx community in New York City. To honor the authors’ vision and to clearly and appropriately tell that story, the roles should be cast accordingly. Company members must match the character definitions as written in the script."
As a casting committee, we cannot legally ask you your ethnic background. You must be cognizant of the descriptors named below. Please note there ARE also roles for non-Latinx/non-BIPOC actors. Namely, Graffiti Pete and the large ensemble that establishes the vibrant and diverse community of Washington Heights. We look forward to casting a broad range of performers to fill a very active, dance-centered ensemble.

- A 16-32 bar cut of a song from the musical or in the style of In The Heights that showcases your voice.
- A short dance combo. You can use the dance combination listed here (this is not our choreo--this is just for use for auditions.) or you may also choreograph/use alternate choreo for your submission.) Please note, there are characters who don't dance (Abuela, The Rosarios, etc) but submitting a dance tape would help us to see if/how you can "move".
- A slate that tells us a little about yourself, your interest in the show, and anything else that helps us get to know you!
